                                                               User Guide

Novel is a statewide virtual library provided free to the public by the New York State Library. It is currently a
project funded through the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant to the New York State Library by the Federal Institute Museum and Library Services (IMLS).

      The Novel Virtual Library helps school media programs become more effective by participating in and promoting statewide initiatives. While the average school library currently has 25 periodical subscriptions, Novel brings the full text of thousands of magazines, newspapers, commercial databases, and other digitized research material to students, teachers, and administrators.

      These databases are available to the Lafayette High School community, both in-house, and through remote access.

 Search a collection of 150 newspapers both national and international.

New York State Newspapers

 Search this database of ten major newspapers published in the State of New York, including the New York Times and the New York Post.

Junior Edition K-12

Formerly SuperTOM Junior, this periodical database is designed for students in junior high, and middle school, with magazines, newspapers and reference books (most are full-text). For information on current events, the arts, science, popular culture, health, people, government, history, sports, and more.

Twayne, World, U.S. and English Authors

Each contains the full text of 200 frequently used Twayne Literary Masters books on individual World, U.S., or English authors, for a total of 600 individual full-text titles. Also biographies, essays, and critiques on author’s works are accessible here.
